Twisted French wire has a ribbed surface and is made of wire by winding on polygonal billets. But unlike Bullion wire Twisted French wire can be made both from flatted wires and from round wires. Twisted French wire has facets that strongly refract light and it’s combined perfectly with other types of metal embroidery threads.
Instructions for the care of French wire embroidery
French wire metal embroideries are very delicate. They shouldn’t be machine-washed nor dry-cleaned. Avoid all contact with water, acids or alcohol. Please, avoid long exposures to heat and light! To keep your embroideries glossy as long as possible, store them in the dark places.
Take a special attention to the scissors or wire cutter, when you are working with a French wire. Your tools must be very sharp and without notches, otherwise there will be hooks on the wire. Avoid stretching and deformation of the spring, when you embroidering.
